Renowned dancer and dance educator Bill Evans offers two free workshops at Goddard College

PORT TOWNSEND, WA- Bill Evans, renowned dancer and movement educator will conduct two free, participatory workshops at Goddard College's MFA in Interdisciplinary Art Program on Saturday September 21, and Monday September 23, open to all. No formal movement background is required.

The Saturday program, HOW THE BODY CHANGES ITS SIZE AND SHAPE is a three-hour workshop from 2:45 - 5:45 pm on 9/21 investigating shape, still forms and breath support, all in a spirit of play.

The Monday program, MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE, runs from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Based on our developmental movement patterns, the workshop will explore Patterns of Total Body Organization through group improvisations and discussions. No experience is necessary.

Both workshops are free and open to all; please email PToffice@goddard.edu to register. Dress comfortably, and come prepared to play with movement!

Bill Evans, distinguished professor emeritus at the University of New Mexico and the Visiting Professor Emeritus at the College at Brockport, State University of New York, taught at Dean College (Franklin, Massachusetts) and Providence College (Rhode Island) after retiring from the State University of New York in 2014. In September, 2018, he relocated to Port Townsend, Washington, where he has established the Evans Somatic Dance Institute. The Bill Evans Dance Company celebrated its 40th anniversary in April 2014. It has appeared in all 50 U. S. states and has taken Mr. Evans to 29 other countries. BEDCO has appeared at American Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and many international dance festivals. Evans is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, the New Mexico Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) American Dance Guild (ADG) and Dance Teacher Magazine.
